Attorney General Schneiderman announces $20 million for New York land banks

On June 26, 2013, New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced a new competitive application process to allocate up to $20 million to New York State's eight land banks!
This exciting step marks the first commitment of state
funding to New York's land banks since enabling legislation passed in 2011.

Funded through last year's $25 billion national settlement with banks, these grants will be awarded in two rounds.

"We are thrilled that Attorney General Schneiderman has taken such a strong stance in support of land banking in New York," says Tamar Shapiro, President and CEO of Center for Community Progress. "This investment in New York's land banks is, at the core, an investment in strengthening neighborhoods across New York State."
