Michael Bochnovic

Michael Bochnovic serves as the Special Assistant to the President and CEO at the Center for Community Progress, supporting day-to-day executive functions as well as discrete projects focused on organizational and Board development, fostering partnerships, and event planning.


Michael possesses a well-rounded background in urban policy, non-profit administration, research, and advocacy. Immediately prior to joining the organization, Michael was the inaugural Executive Fellow with Urban Strategies, Inc., where he supported leadership development, coordinated advocacy initiatives, and led grant writing and fundraising campaigns for coordinated human services programming in neighborhoods undergoing major redevelopment efforts. This included collaborating with several dozen partner organizations to win two $30M Choice Neighborhoods implementation awards in Baltimore and Tulsa, respectively. Michael’s experience also includes a deep background in anti-poverty research and technical assistance as a Program and Research Assistant at the Center for the Study of Social Policy, and as a Research Intern with the Brookings Institution.


Michael holds a Master’s in Urban and Environmental Planning from Arizona State University, where his graduate thesis focused on the spatial mismatch theory and equitable, sustainable land uses. He also holds Bachelor degrees in Political Science and Urban Planning, respectively, from ASU. Michael is a proud Chicago native and graduate of Whitney Young Magnet High School.
