$60 Million and Counting: The Cost of Vacant and Abandoned Properties in Eight Ohio Cities

The 2008 study found that there were 25,000 vacant properties existing in the eight Ohio Cities examined—Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Ironton, Lima, Springfield, Toledo, Zanesville. These vacancies have led to $15 Million in additional costs for city services and a $49 Million loss in property tax revenues. The study also provides a breakdown of the strategies these Cities are using to address these vacancies and their costs.
