Policy and Research
Community Progress is at the forefront of policy development and practical research to shape problem property revitalization efforts in communities around the country. We have supported more than half a dozen successful state reforms related to land banking, code enforcement, and tax foreclosure and have advised federal agencies on how to best support community stabilization through funding allocation decisions.
Through our policy and research work, we:
- Deepen practitioners’ understanding of the challenges communities face and the opportunities for reform through practical research
- Ensure policymakers at the federal and state levels have the information and tools to make policy and funding decisions that address local needs
- Support the development of new policy responses to vacancy and abandonment at the state and federal levels
